01 About

I'm a data engineer and team lead. I help build and run the Enterprise Data Platform at Esports World Cup Foundation — a Snowflake-based warehouse that turns ticketing, attendance, viewership, and competition data into the numbers leadership actually makes decisions on.

My work sits across three areas: platform architecture (medallion warehouse design, dimensional modelling, orchestration), governance & security (RBAC, data residency and PDPL compliance, access control, PII masking), and enabling people (self-service analytics, natural-language querying, onboarding engineers onto the platform). I care about pipelines that are cheap to run, models that are correct, and access that is provable.

  1. May 2026 — PresentTeam Lead

    Senior Data Engineer & Team Lead

    Esports World Cup Foundation · Riyadh

    • Enabled event-day decision-making for executive leadership by architecting the foundation's enterprise data platform — a layered Snowflake warehouse with orchestrated ingestion from ticketing, attendance, competition & viewership — turning fragmented sources into a single governed source of truth for the Esports World Cup.
    • Made an AI analytics capability legally deployable by designing the compliance architecture for natural-language querying: in-Kingdom residency, zero data retention, least-privilege scoped access, and a data-owner approval workflow. Cleared cybersecurity and executive review, and shipped.
    • Cut recurring platform cost by an order of magnitude on refactored pipelines — designed cost attribution from the warehouse's own metadata, then re-architected ingestion from per-row inserts to bulk staged loading.
    • Made platform access provable under audit by designing the RBAC architecture — access roles separated from functional roles, defined inheritance, closed grant-drift gaps — alongside PII masking across 100+ columns aligned to PDPL / NDMO.
    • Removed a class of silent data failure with quality gates and freshness assertions at the layer boundaries, so structurally valid but semantically empty batches stop before they reach a dashboard.
    • Protected the foundation's position on a vendor-delivered platform — defined phase acceptance criteria and verified delivered state against the approved design, turning design-to-build divergences into a prioritised, evidence-backed remediation plan.
    • Kept the platform live through a global event — per-source freshness SLAs, failure isolation across the ingestion fleet, data-condition alerting, and pre-written recovery runbooks.

    • Designed & governed a scalable Data Lakehouse (Alibaba OSS, Iceberg, Dagster) — −50% data latency, enabling real-time analytics.
    • Drove the BI department to 100% NDMO compliance with robust data governance frameworks.
    • Migrated legacy pipelines (SSIS, SQL Server) to cloud-native architecture with zero reporting disruption.
    • Resolved complex production issues across a hybrid Alibaba Cloud + on-prem landscape; mentored junior engineers.

The foundation's central warehouse. A four-layer medallion architecture with orchestrated ingestion from ticketing, attendance, competition & viewership sources, modelled into governed marts for BI.
